Welcome to the new Redline board, launched on October 28th 2008, for PW's fifth birthday.

This is the Redline board and is designed to be an interchange for constructive criticism.



If you want advice on your image, simply upload it, and ask for advice on unfinished pictures.

TOP TIP: If you want a 'redline' ie someone to draw over your image to highlight anatomical or perspective errors, set your image to 'public', (you can do that by clicking 'edit' on your picture). Thus allows us to get to your image more quickly.

By no means are you restricted to ask or give for constructive crits elsewhere of course!

first off, I can see you did a great job with the front legs. They were stretched pretty far out, just like a cat does when it stretches!

However, don't be afraid when it comes time to put the stretchyness of the rest of the cat. Cats are extremely limber, so it comes as no surprise that they can bend in many different ways. Remember this as you think of the position you want, and exaggerate! There's no harm in exaggerating the length, position, or anything like that in art.

So, let me start by saying that you did the hair pretty great : D The face in general is actually decent, so what I marked there are minor adjustments.

Anyway, regarding the torso. Shoulders don't slope downwards naturally. Not unless you're drawing a chibi character. They don't need to curve upwards as much as I indicated here, but they should be more horizontal than diagonal!

Moving past that, once you fix the shoulders, you'd probably realize that the character is very thin... So you'd need to make adjustments to her abdomen... She was verrry skinny. And it's possible to draw characters that skinny! But giving hips and thicker thighs (not fat thighs.) balances it out.
You had the arms and hands in more or less the right spaces, so.. nothing to really say there except that I did it to place the hips.

LEGS!
Legs are very important. Telling someone to draw people x-number of heads high only makes it look awkward, imo... The best advice I can come up with is... are her legs at least a little longer than her arms? Do her legs start at or above the wrists? Yes? Yaaay, you're going in the right direction!

I have a feeling my advice isn't exactly easy to follow, but I hope the redline helps, at least.
Oh yeah! And next time up upload onto Redline, edit your picture by typing "public" so that other people can edit it... I did that part for you.

 well, i tried. i'm not the best at drawing lances and swords and all that, but i think the problem with your's was that there was a part on the bottom that got wider when it shouldn't have. I don't know if you wanted the handle or not, if you do i can do that too.

 I'm pretty much a perfectionist when it comes to Photoshop.

Sketch of a picture I'm doing on Photoshop done first on Paint-chat. I noticed I screwed up the lance good, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
Please help?

 well, i'm not sure how it's supposed to be shaped, but i think how it looks all depends on the shading. if you shade it right it'll look the way it should look.

if it's really not shaped right though i might be able to fix it if you give me a picture of what it looks like
